October 13-14, 2006Our first trip to Westgate Entertainment Center in three years saw 62 bowlers vie for the Lima Junior Open crown. Thanks to Andy, Wes, and the entire staff at Westgate for providing a fine venue for this event. Also thanks to Randy Hart for a fair pattern on a difficult lane surface. A big thanks to Jay and Tim Deily for the Isaly’s T-shirts provided to our finalists. Isaly’s products are available at the deli counter at Wal-Mart and Giant Eagle stores. On the girls side first time champion Becky Sulligan of Greenville, SC bested JTBA veteran Jessica Baker of Springfield, OH for the title 173-154. Baker advanced the finals by defeating last months Dayton winner Stacy Bradshaw of Ironton, OH. Sulligan got to the finals by winning a tight match with Bexley, OH’s Ashley Stahurski. Sulligan defeated Stahurski 201-200 and 247-244. Stahurski was the lead qualifier at +110, and Jessica Baker had high game for the girls with a stellar 269, which bested the boys high of 268 by Justin O’Hara of Westland MI. Speaking of Justin O’Hara he became another first time champion as he beat fellow Michigan resident Eric Bracken of Brighton, MI 179-152 for the Lima title. O’Hara reached the championship match by besting Toledo, OH’s Earon Vollmar. Bracken advanced by defeating Anderson, NC’s Dakota Jordan. Chad Close of Toledo was the boys high qualifier at +136. It took -27 to make match play. All members who did not receive a JTBA shirt order form in Lima will be mailed one with this mailing. It needs to be either returned to the JTBA office by mail or turned in at the Columbus event November 5, 2006. Anyone who does not order by the 5th will not receive a shirt this year. The shirts are being provided by the JTBA with three logos (JTBA, Isaly’s and Dyno-Thane). Members are responsible for the stitching of their name on the back. You can have this done on your own or JTBA will have it done at a cost of $10. Next months event will take the tour to Columbus and Sequoia Pro Bowl. Entry forms are included with this newsletter . Tim Voss and staff will be hosting for the second year in a row, and are looking forward to welcoming the best youth bowlers in the Midwest. Thanks for your support of the JTBA!
