JTBA Doubles Championship (March 30, 2008)A large field of 106 Bowlers turned out for the 2008 JTBA Doubles Championships at Rebman’s Recreation Center in Lorain March 30th. We’d like to send a huge thank you to Rick Rebman and the staff of Rebman’s Recreation for not only their excellent hospitality during the event, but also their cooperation in the date change for this event. Additionally, we’d like to thank Randy Hart once again for his expertise in providing a challenging yet scoreable lane condition for the event. On the men’s side, for the second time in three years Erie PA’s Adam Metzger found himself winning the doubles title with a Robert Morris University teammate. This year it was Tim Pfeifer of Cranberry Twp. PA who served as his partner. Two years ago he teamed with Matthew Parks to take home the doubles in suburban Columbus. Metzger/Pfeifer defeated Matthew Anderson of Davisburg MI, and his partner Paul Benedict of Wyandote MI in the final. Metzger/Pfeifer snuck past tournament leaders Kenny Wichmann and Michael Jacobs in the semi-finals, while Anderson/Benedict were victorious in a high scoring semi-final against Chris Creeks and Brian McMahon. The win was Metzger’s first of the season, and 5th overall title, while Pfeifer claimed his 7th overall title, and fourth this year (including the last three). Wichmann/Jacobs paced qualifying at +398. Scott Honeysett had the high game of the event with a 298, while the team high game went to Honeysett and his partner Jon Schiller 554. On the ladies side, Pikeville College’s Ashley Stahurski and Michelle Ostrowski took home the title, defeating Natasha Martin and Josie Bashara in the final. The win was Stahurski’s third overall, and second this season, and Ostrowski’s first career title. Stahurski/Ostrowski advanced past the Pennsylvania team of Marissa Matassa and Bethan McGeary, while Bashara/Martin defeated Arrigo/Wells. High game for the ladies was Joy Arrigo with 279, while the high team game went to her and her partner Mary Wells with 469.
